Pillows is the debut instrumental album, from Gummy Soul’s newest artist, Rahlou.
While awaiting his first born child, the Brooklyn based DJ and producer, created Pillows after a chance encounter with Gummy Soul founder Wally Clark.
“I met Rahlou on the street in Atlanta,” says Clark. “He came up to me because of this Carla Thomas record he saw me holding. We hit it off immeadiatly, and a couple days later he called me, because he got a line on a collection his record dealer friend was giving away. When we showed up, this guy had 25 crates on his porch, that he just wanted gone. So we filled a Volvo station wagon up to the brim, and drove with stacks in our laps. And as we started going through the records, I began teaching him about how I made beats to help him transition from the MPC to the digital world."
Pillows is a collection of beats that came from those first sessions, and is a warm introduction, that's sure to keep you cozy, as the days grow colder.
Since his 2010 debut George Fitzgerald has gained a loyal following through a reliably consistent string of releases for influential labels such as Hotflush, Aus and Hypercolour. His standout moment was 2012’s ‘Child’, which arguably defined the house sound of that year with its garage and R&B infused hooks and bass lines. The track highlighted George as the most promising member of a growing wave of producers that have since penetrated the mainstream consciousness (Duke Dumont, Disclosure) with modern, credible club tracks that aren’t afraid of a well-crafted hook.
The Watford born, and now Berlin resident's early musical schooling took place behind the counter at London’s Black Market Records. It was here that he worked in the deep house section piecing together the sounds’ US origins and its link with the later 4/4 garage of Tuff Jam records, which are arguably George’s most obvious influences.
Entering into 2013 as a defining figure of the prevailing dance sound, George was invited to provide a mix for Radio 1’s world-renowned Essential Mix series. It was quite a coup as it not only guaranteed worldwide exposure but also enabled George to show off a deep musical knowledge and subtly reposition expectations of his sound, with leftfield curveballs from labels like Perlon and Workshop that point to his exposure to Berlin club life, most notably as a frequent Berghain DJ.

Danielle Gooding is an RBMA graduate, and the newest addition to the Butterz roster. In 2009 her prolific Grime productions caught the ears of Wiley, who she has been making music with as part of his Eskibeat Productions label. In early 2013 she signed to Butterz and released her debut solo record Hold On to critical acclaim and has since become a regular on the London club circuit. Her DJ sets are focused around her own productions and collaborations spanning House, Garage and Grime.
Being strategically positioned in the middle of a cultural triangle that unites Africa, South America and the UK, it's no wonder that our hometown of Lisbon keeps producing so many interesting artists.
Enter Klipar, an established name in the Portuguese electronic music scene, either by his high-octane collaboration with DJ Manaia as Zombies For Money, or as a solo artist whose mission to explore heavy basslines and groovy beats has led him to the DJ booth of some of the best clubs in the country. Being enamoured with all the classic house and techno beats we grew up with, as well as the more recent and bass-heavy creations from the UK underground, it's no wonder that his own productions channel both of these influences and fuses them into one highly danceable experience.
We Don't Give is the latest track by this Lisbon artist, where he layers festive tropical drums over the heavy thump of house and techno, wrapping everything up with a fat bassline of epic proportions. Throw in some looped vocal samples in the mix and you've got a huge bass house track that's fit to rock headphones and Funktion Ones alike.
The Unruly Remixes compilation has been a long time in the making - 20 years if you count Blunted Dummies' seminal "House For All" as the starting point. Scottie B and Shawn Caesar launched Unruly Records in 1994, and the label came to define and ultimately dominate the genre of Baltimore Club music from the late 90s all the way up until present day. For the Unruly Remixes we grabbed four of the biggest, loudest, grimiest Baltimore Club hits and gave them to 16 of our favorite producers in virtually every genre of dance music. From Tittsworth's dark techno, to DJ Sliink's signature Jersey Club, to Sam Tiba & Myd (Club Cheval)'s space-age R&B, to Nadastrom's vibey deep house, to LunyP's tropical percussion jam, to Volta Bureau's space disco, this is a collection of wildly creative takes on four absolute classic club records.

Fresh and well back again. One of the leading lights in Compost's history, Beanfield's mastermind Jan Krause has produced an impeccable run of singles and albums, while in the last three years he did productions for dozens of other great artists like Permanent Vacation, Roland Appel, Robert Owens.
If you're a bit familiar with the Compost back catalogue, besides the three Beanfield albums and lot of hits like "Tides" (Beanfield's "Tides" sold over 10.000 vinyl singles), you can find his masterful producer credits on more than ten different artist albums. Although the last Beanfield release was 2008, Jan Krause was and is always busy producing, mixing, recording in his own full professional big room studio. By the way, recently he wrote and recorded two songs with Christian Prommer for Christian's "Ambach" album. "Alone" featuring Marzenka is showing Beanfield on formidable form: kicking forward with slick n tuff beats and basslines, soulful vocals by Munich based Marzenka, blistering synths, beautiful ingrediences all over the place, underpinned by an aqueous atmosphere. Both tracks are timeless balanced and infectious house tunes.

Dissipate are an underground collective representing from Lisbon, Portugal. Blurring the boundaries between house and bass with a cutting edge selection of artists and releases, the label is set to shake things up. Created by musical comrades Klipar, Bizt and Nunchaku, Dissipate are on course to wake up some ears and minds who have been sleeping for too long. Dissipate label strives to bring a hybrid mixed genres and highly focused on the dancefloor.
Bizt draws influence from breakbeat, UK funky and afrobeat, which he infuses with plenty of bass. He specialises in eardrum-rattling beats, and has played alongside names like Girl Unit, Buraka Som Sistema, Branko, T.Williams, Melé, Bok Bok, Zombies For Money, and Mensah aka New York Transit Authority. He takes things to the next level on You Bitch and New Day.
A sneaky, half-time intro opens You Bitch, with some punchy snares being paired with funky bass stabs and some hints of swing, before the pace gathers into the drop. Minimal yet groovy, Bizt manages to draw plenty out of the sparse arrangement, to create a club bubbler which will see plenty of late-night action. He introduces some layered kicks later on, as the track expands out, taking in elements of house, techno and carnival funk. Plenty for fans of progressive bass to get their teeth into.
New Day is a cool, smooth slab of retro/future bass, with elements of the old skool sound meeting perfectly with the new. Bizt manages to take what has come before and influenced him, and add his own twist on things, to make a unique, exciting sound.
Again pared down, but with enough added in to make it flow, New Day rocks with a headnodding beat, massive bassline and a whole palette of electronic ticks, clicks and effects, all of which add up to a top drawer bass music track.
Hackney Parrot by Tessela is one of our favorite tracks this year at BREAKS lda. headquarters. And now the finnish brothers, Jack The Hustler, come delivering some goods in the form of a bootleg! Same feeling of the original. It's breaks, it's UK bass, it's futuristic beats…
Jack The Hustler consists of two electronic music producers from Finland. They both started out as drummers, but they found out that their passion laid somewhere else. Their new home was found in electronic music. They started producing in late 2009 and with endless studio hours they evolved their sound towards house music, the kind of house they wanted. “Hustlin House Music”.
